In Xishuangbanna, there are 13 minorities(include Han people) , including Dai , Han , Aini , Yi , Lahu , Bulang , Jinuo , Yao , Miao , Hui , Wa , Zhuang , Jinpo etc. They all lived in this area for over 100 years .
1. Dai People

There are 296,930 Dai people live in Xishuangbanna , including 128,415 people live in Jinghong , 114,593 people live in Menghai , 53,922 people live in Mengla . There are 3 parts in Dai People, 1th is Water Dai People , 2th is Han Dai People , 3th is Flower Belt Dai People. Most of them are Water Dai People.Their
ancestors from Ancient China Baiyue ethnic groups of old time.On some old Dai books, said "around the 8th century BC , some Dai people of Mianmar and Thailand moved into Xishuangbanna and mixed with local Dai people, have become the main Dai people.

2. Aini People

There are 186,067 Aini people live in Xishuangbanna , including 71,492 people live in Jinghong , 61,232 people live in Menghai ,
53,343 people live in Mengla. They mainly live in mountain area and devide into 5 parts, including Jiwei , Jizuo , Muda , Ake , Bujiao . Their
ancestors from Ancient China Northwest Qiangren .At 7-8 century AD, they mainly lived in both sides of the middle reaches of the Honghe(River).
At the middle of the ninth century AD, they passed Yuanjiang and Jiangcheng and moved to east coast of Langcang River(Mekong River),
then through the Lancang River, and gradually distributed in the mountain area .

3. Bulang People

There are 36,453 Bulang people live in Xishuangbanna , including 5,635 people live in Jinghong , 30,605 people live in Menghai , 213 people live in Mengla .They mainly live in Bulangshan , Xiding , Mengman , Daluo town.
Their ancestors from Ancient Pu people. They are indigenous peoples in Yunnan. After long-term national movement and tribes, tribal fusion differentiation , one part of the Pu people in Xishuangbanna , Simao and Lincang area developed into today's Bulang people. |
4. Yi People

There are 55,772 Yi people live in Xishuangbanna , including 24,673 people live in Jinghong , 7,175 people live in Menghai , 23,924 people live in Mengla.
They mainly live in Xiangming , Yiwu , Mengban town.Their ancestors from Northwest Zhiqiang nomadic tribes in ancient China.In
Qing Dynasty , Yi ancestors of the "La Lu" lineage moved to Xinping and Jinggu. Then due to the war, moved from Jinggu to Xishuangbanna |
5. Lahu People

There are 55,548 Lahu people live in Xishuangbanna , including 11,780 people live in Jinghong , 41,924 people live in Menghai , 1,844 people live in Mengla .They mainly live in Meng'a , Mengwan and Mengman town.
Their ancestors from Ancient Qiangren. At the tenth century AD, they moved to Xishangbanna and Simao area.The Lahu people in Xishuangbanna mainly from Langcang county. |
6. Jinuo People

There are 20,199 Jinuo people live in Xishuangbanna , including 19,250 people live in Jinghong , 52 people live in Menghai , 897 people live in Mengla .They mainly live in Jinuo Shan , Mengwang town. Jinuo means the future generations
of uncle. Their ancestors from where is not sure.It was said that they maybe from Diqiang branch of the family or from Jiezhuo Shan.They have been living in Xishuangbanna for long time.They still make handmade bags . |

Yao People

There are 18,679 Yao people live in Xishuangbanna , including 2,683 people live in Jinghong , 52 people live in Menghai , 15,944 people live in Mengla .They mainly live in Yaoqu , Mengban , Yiwu , Guanlei , Mengman , Xiangming and Mengla town. There are two pats of Yao people in Xishuangbanna, 1th is Landing Yao people, 2th is Dingban Yao people.
Their ancestors from "Changsha Wuling quite" or "Wuxi quite" in Qin and Han Dynasties. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, they moved to Yunan province from Hunan and Guangxi povince, then passed Wenshan , Simao , Jiangcheng moved to Xishuangbanna. |
8. Miao People

There are 11,037 Miao people live in Xishuangbanna , including 2,161 people live in Jinghong, 351 people live in Menghai , 8,525 people live in Mengla .They mainly live in Mengla town. There are two
ATG Miao villages, Nalong village and Molong village in Mohan town.200 years ago, their ancestors from Guizhou passed Wenshan and Simao moved to Xihsuangbanna. Then some Miao people continue move to Laos and some Miao people stay in this area. |
9. Hui People

They have round 300 history in Xishuangbanna. Their ancestors from Langcang , Ximeng area and Thailand, not all village from the same place. |
11. Zhuang People
